Research Fellow

Anđela MIĆANOVIĆ is a Research Fellow at ESILUX. She specializes in European integration, geopolitics, and democratic backsliding in Southeast Europe.

Her recently completed doctoral research examines the role of the European Union in processes of (de-)democratisation and the unintended consequences of Europeanisation in the Western Balkans.

Her work combines theoretically grounded analysis with policy-relevant research on EU enlargement, governance, and security dynamics in post-conflict societies.

Alongside her academic research, she brings extensive experience from governmental and international institutions, including roles at the Parliament of Montenegro, the Office for European Integration of the Prime Minister, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the EU Delegation.

Her professional background spans legislative affairs, EU accession processes, diplomacy, and international governance, providing her with first-hand insight into institutional decision-making and policy implementation. She earned his PhD in political science from the University of Luxembourg in 2026.
